A pat on the back for an under-appreciated and, often times, a thankless job can keep us going. Who’s with me? That pat on the back can come in many forms. Today, my guest, Haley Barry, intends to inspire you to see how great you truly are every day.

We’re all doing the best we can!
Moms, you are amazing. I don’t just say that to be nice. If you have brought a little one(s) into this world or are raising little one(s)…you’re amazing. However, the world can be a really tough place to believe it. I want to share some inspiration for moms, just like you. Because the more you are inspired and aim to become the best version of you…the better mom you can be!
So. Many. Women. I know, struggle with mom guilt and taking time to care for herself. I hope after reading this, you can realize the power you have when you decide to get inspired, to take some time for self-care, and be the boss-mom that you are.
But we need some help. We have to stick together. We need some inspiration to keep us going.
So, here’s your daily dose of inspiration for moms so you can take on today and every day. Be the best version of you. Put your head on your pillow tonight, excited, and ready for the day to come!
“Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Brilliant.”
Easy-peasy right? No…some of us are so busy, we can forget to laugh. Please mama, don’t forget to laugh. The world needs laughter, your children need to laugh, they need to hear you laugh. Make it a resolution for your family, you have to laugh at least once a day. What does this mean? Create the ability for laughter to happen. Plan an evening board-game night, play hide and seek, draw pictures, take silly “photo-booth” pictures with your phone. Create the right atmosphere for daily laughter.
Have Goals for YOU
So many women I know, put their goals and dreams they have always had for their life on hold or worse…forgotten. As soon as they had children, out the door they went. While this is such a noble gesture, moms are sometimes “too selfless,” in a sense. Not taking care of ourselves means we can’t be the best version of ourselves for our spouse and children. Have goals for you that don’t jeopardize your motherhood but rather inspire you and your family to chase their dreams too.
“There is no way to be a perfect mother, but a million ways to be a great one.” – Jill Churchill
Being Overwhelmed Doesn’t Have to be “Normal”
I sometimes hear that surviving motherhood is ok or normal. While lots of these types of posts or inspiration are super well-intentioned and true to an extent, I think we can do better. As moms, if we all help each other out, there are so many of us, we can end the “mom-survival-mode” and have thriving motherhoods. As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” However, we have done away with that here in the states and I feel like its about time for a comeback.
Asking for help is Cool
In order to get out of the motherhood-survival-mode…one of the best things to do is just ask for help. Every. Single. One. Of. Us. Need. Help. Sometimes. Don’t be afraid, if you get shut down once, try someone else. I am here to help you. Please be there for me when I need it. Raising children wasn’t supposed to be easy but it shouldn’t feel like WWIII every day either.
You are an amazing mom when you need help too. Amazing mom doesn’t mean the lady down the street that always has the perfect manicured lawn, kids without a single wrinkle in their clothes and her makeup all done, perfectly, every day. That just doesn’t exist without help. Also, who set that standard anyway? Everyone makes different priorities in their lives; welcome to what makes America great!
While asking for help is cool, reaching out is even cooler. When motherhood is treating you well or when you think another mama could use a break, some help, or a coffee date… be the one to reach out. Face-to-face friendships are where it’s at.
We all need to take care of ourselves. Take “5” minutes (…or 25) a day. AT LEAST. Do something good for yourself. Take a bath, listen to your favorite Spotify playlist, ask your hubby to not let the kids bang on the door during your 20-minute shower, or listen to that podcast you have been wanting to while you fold some laundry.
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
Care for your Body
We know we teach our kids almost everything. Take care of your health, mom. We really are what we eat. Pass on health and the importance of daily activity to your kids. 10 minutes, 6 days a week. Shoot for that. Do it together. Toddlers trying to do push-ups is the best, you’ll check off your daily laugh all in one shot!
Don’t be Afraid to say “No.”
Half the reason most of the world lives in daily stress is due to how much we take on.
I read the most amazing book last year called, Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown. Definitely add this to your 2019 book list. Or just order it right now on Amazon before you forget because it can literally change your life! Make it a goal this year; own 2019 for you and your family, pursue more joy and peace, and pursue less of everything else.
Your kids watch everything you do. They will copy what you do all day and not listen to a word you say. If we don’t take time as moms to take care of ourselves, chase our dreams, live for today while looking forward to the future, we pass that message on to all of our babies. It’s so important for our kids to see that it’s important for mom to take care of herself so they understand the value of self-care and health.
I hope this inspired you today, mama. I am doing the daily grind with you but let’s become a world of inspired mama’s, helping each other out and living like the boss-moms we are.
